Located in the southwest corner of India, Kerala is one of India's most popular tourist destinations and is well connected by air, road and rail.
By Air:
Kerala is the best-connected state in the country with three international airports : Calicut in the north, Kochi in the middle and Thiruvananthapuram in the extreme south.
By Rail:
All but the high-range districts of Kerala are on the rail map. Long-distance express trains ply to and from the major terminuses in the state to most cities elsewhere in India, like Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Due to the geographical lie of the state, these trains pass through most of its districts.
By Road:
Roads in Kerala are in general much better than in other states of India. National Highways connect the state to the rest of the country, including NH17 (through Karnataka in the north and on to Mumbai,) NH212 (northeast, to Bangalore) and NH47, NH47B and NH49 (east and south, to Tamil Nadu).
Public transport is readily available in most locations in the state. Tourist taxis are to be found even in the smaller towns, while the ubiquitous three-wheeler autos" are a convenient alternative to taxis for short rides within urban and semi-urban areas.
