Adventure Spots

Uttaranchal with valleys, peaks, mighty rivers and snow-capped mountains is a great place adventure. It offers some of the best venues for adventure sports such as skiing, river rafting, canoeing, Para- gliding and rock climbing.
The large slopes of Garhwal and Kumaon covered with seasonal snow are an ideal place for skiing during the winter months.
River rafting
The Himalayas are the source of some of India's mighty rivers. The rivers race down the slopes and cut deep gorges and break into silvery white rapids. The Garhwal and Kumaon hills provide ideal locales for river rafting in swift swirling rivers.
Rishikesh, Dakpathar and the Ramganga in the Corbett National Park are best suited for canoeing. September-November and March-April-May are months for this sport.
Trekking: Many trekking routes are available for tourists wanting to experience the charm of Himalayas.

Corbett National Park
The Corbett National Park is over 520 sq km along the banks of the Ramganga River. In 1957, it was named as Corbett National Park in honor and memory of the late Jim Corbett, the legendary hunter, naturalist-turned-author and photographer who had helped in setting up the park and demarcating its boundaries.
Best time to visit: Park is open from 15th November to 15th June. It is closed during rainy season.

Air: Nearest airport is Pantnagar, 133 km.
Rail: Nearest railhead is Ramnagar, 50 km from Dhikala.
Road: Dhikala is connected by a road to Dhikala- Ramnagar and from there to other parts of the state.
Valley of Flowers
The Valley of Flowers National Park is well-known for flowers that paint the slopes beautiful. It is located between the mountain ranges of the Zanskar and Great Himalaya ranges.
Valley of flower is world heritage recognized by UNESCO.
Orchids, poppies, premolars, calendulas, daisies and anemones carpet the ground.
The park is open only in summers between June and October.
