The state of Kerala is wedged between the Arabian Sea to the west and the Western Ghats to the east covers an area of 38,863 sq km (1.18% of India's landmass). Situated at the southwestern tip of India, it has Tamil Nadu and Karnataka as its neighboring states. Kerala's coast runs 580 km in length, while the state itself varies from 35-120 km in width. Geographically, Kerala is roughly divided into three climatically distinct regions. These include the eastern highlands (rugged and cool mountainous terrain), the central midlands (rolling hills), and the western lowlands (coastal plains). Saroma offers customized exciting packages to each of these regions. Lake Vembanad - Kerala's largest body of water dominates the backwaters; it lies between Alappuzha and Kochi and is over 200 sq km in area. The comparative water-richness of the coastal belt can be partly gauged by the fact that Kuttanad, with its backwaters canals and rivers, itself comprises more than 20% of India's waterways by length.
Kerala within the sultry equatorial tropics is a climatically divergent place, offering the best of rugged and cool rocky terrains, rolling hills and coastal plains. Experience this diversity with tailor made packages of Saroma.
The average rainfall in the State is about 3000 mm each year. The temperature in Kerala normally ranges between 28° and 32° C (82° to 90° F) on the plains but dips to about 20° C (68° F) in the highlands. The highlands are a major tourist attraction as the climate is very cool throughout the year.
